We are actively seeking submissions in the following areas:

Urban Fantasy
Paranormal Anthology for Spring 2011 release.

Bonaparte Press is a full-service, independent Small Press. Established in the Fall of 2008 we are excited to be entering our third year with a new lineup of great authors.

Our approach at Bonaparte Press is to limit our yearly titles so we are able to give each author the time and attention they need to become successful. We are interested primarily in unpublished authors, and offer a number of unique supports and services to help them succeed in the publishing world. We welcome submissions from published authors as well, but our focus is on finding the next big star in the Romance world.

We recognize that E-books are the wave of the future and are happy to be a part of this revolution. A small number of our books will be offered in print, the majority will be in ebook universal ebook format.

Our books sell in all the major ebook retailers, including on the Apple I-pad.

Bonaparte Press offers competitive compensation, incorporating a negotiable contract. We typically hold print and electronic rights for 5 years, renewable annually. Additionally, we offer training and conference opportunities for our authors. We have distribution of our books via the major ebook venues (e.g. Amazon.com, Smashwords, Barnes & Nobles, Sony, IPad). Books in our POD program have national distribution with Ingram and Amazon.com. Consistent with e-publshing standards, Bonaparte Press does not offer advances, but our royalties typically meet or exceed industry standards.

If you feel you have a fully developed, well-written story, please e-mail your submissions to :

Submissions@bonapartepress.org.

Submissions should include the following and should be in word format in a zip file.

Romance and Erotic Romance

We are seeking submissions in all sub-genres and levels of sensuality in Romance. Our Erotica tends to be on the more moderate edge, but we do accept work featuring couples (or multiples) from all walks of life, and sexual orientation, including same-sex romances. Romances must have strong relationships, as well as external and internal conflict; the heat level should be appropriate to the book and enhance the story, and the primary relationship in the book should offer a happily ever after (HEA), a committed menage, or an emotionally satisfying happily-for-now.

For a Romance to be successful, the reader needs to like the characters, where the hero and heroine are believable, and it's very clear that they need to be together to be happy.

Hero's don't always need to be Alpha, although they still remain very popular.

We accept the following sub-genres:
Historical, romantic suspense, romantic comedy, futuristic, contemporary, paranormal, erotic romance and fantasy.

Romances should be between 40,000 - 60,000 words.

Anthology:

We will be pulling together a spring anthology. Check back for submission guidelines.

Science fiction, fantasy, futuristic, Urban Fantasy, Urban Sci-Fi

Bonaparte Press is seeking to acquire manuscripts in these genres, those in a romance tradition and those with romantic elements. Under this genre, we will also accept space opera, steampunk, cyberpunk and other similar genres and sub-genres.

Erotica

Erotica, differing from erotic romance in not promising a happily ever after within the story line, will also be considered. The story must still contain good character and plot development, and the sexual content must be integral to the development of the story. Please, no Penthouse Letters. No incest, plots involving minors or bestiality.

Mystery

We're looking for a wide range of mysteries, including soft & hard cozies, procedurals, historical mysteries, and contemporary PIs. We'd to see mysteries of aprox. 60,000 to 80,000 words.
